Curate/Create

Here are the most recent CURATE/ CREATE ideas and paintings from The Participatory Art Experience

Millicent Encarnacion Millicent Encarnacion: "a large, black and white skull with big, colorful peonies (or another similarly petal-ly flower) blooming out of every hole (eyes, nose, mouth, random cracks, ears) basically, the concept is having faith in a disaster. even though something may be close to dying, there's still that small sliver of hope that something amazing will come through instead."

Den Yankow
 Dennis Yankow:
"Not smart with this stuff, but...I remember being in school and it being May in NY. Each day in math class I scooted my desk closer and closer to the window. In the end I moved every desk in the row, so the teacher didn't blame me. I always wanted to throw a paper airplane out the window and see where it went...and follow if possible. Especially during math class, needless to say my grades were not dandy during that time period."

Sabrina Smith

Sabrina Smith: "wow, these are all so deep. I'd just like to see you paint some cats in random poses, with that singleton blue glow around them. You know, sleeping on top of each other, licking each other, maybe a leg-up, why-u-watching-me-lick-myself shot. It'd be hot."

Charlotte Moon

Charlotte Moon: "a tree.  There's something so "grounding" about the truth that the roots of the tree are as expansive as the canopy we can see.  Like people's lives - we can see them, their canopies, but we can only imagine the "roots" of who they are and what they have experienced."

YOU CURATE/ I CREATE: The Participatory Art Experience

I was told 16 times at a recent show, “I love your art, but I can’t afford it.” So I’ve come up with an idea. For the next thirty days, I will post a painting a day priced between $49.99 and $99.99. Some will be for auction; others may have a fixed price. And here’s another little tid-bit…YOU DECIDE WHAT I PAINT….yes make a request…I’m your Visual Disc Jockey…you choose the subject or concept…I’ll paint it and you buy it or bid on it! I think it’ll be fun!!

Guidelines to remember:

  • Paintings are 16” x 20”    * Paintings are on canvas    *Paintings are naturalistic (not realistic but still have form)
  • Paintings are not copies of other paintings or copyrighted images  * Buyer pays for shipping (the box is free J)

AAANNDDD… the person whose idea is voted favorite painting
will win a free portrait of him/ herself painted by Clayton Singleton
